RSG Media Systems, www.rsgmedia.com, is announcing a major
technology release Version 2.5 of RightsLogic(R), its program and
rights management product suite.
RSG Media will take advantage of key Microsoft technologies to
bring value to their customers through three distinct phases:
In Phase I, RSG offers the core modules of the RightsLogic suite
on Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft .Net including Asset Maintenance to store metadata about content assets and elements, Rights In, to store deal level information about Acquisition, Development, Co-Production, and other inbound content and element deals, and Rights Out, a module that supports Licensing deals and Program Sales.
In Phase II, RSG is developing a robust service oriented
architecture (SOA) developed on Windows Communication Foundation to further enable the use of the product as a "rights engine" and make critical rights information available to neighboring applications such as Media Asset Management, Broadcast Management, or Business Systems applications. This phase also includes additional modules including Finance and Planning & Scheduling on SQL Server.
In Phase III, RSG will offer a configurable workflow modules
developed on Windows Workflow Foundation. This tool will allow each customer to design their own workflows for the product to better support their unique processes and to enable deep integration with Microsoft's core products such as SharePoint 2007, MS Office, and Dynamics AX.
Mukesh Sehgal, President and CEO of RSG Media Systems, shares,
"The Microsoft development platform allows us to go to market quickly with rich enterprise solutions. It made sense to offer our software on SQL Server to lower the total cost of ownership and to better utilize other Microsoft technologies such as Windows Communication Foundation and Windows Workflow Foundation."
"We see RSG Media as a highly respected leader in rights
management for Media & Entertainment, and we are extremely pleased at the opportunity to work with them to deliver innovative solutions to the industry" says Gabriele Di Piazza, Managing Director, Microsoft Media & Entertainment, Communications Sector group. "RightsLogic brings added depth to the Microsoft portfolio of platforms and solutions, and greatly increases our overall value proposition to our customers."
Applications to better manage media companies' rights have become critical in the Media & Entertainment sector due to increased contract complexity, dependence on third party content creators, the emergence of new distribution platforms, and additional compliance requirements. Generally, the process of identifying content and isolating airing restrictions has been an extremely manual process, one that requires legal departments to sift through paper contracts to identify any possible use limitations. Centralized applications such as RightsLogic
serve to maximize the use of cleared content and minimize risk of
misuse. Knowing what is legally available, where, when, and what
platform is a tremendous undertaking.
